Asking Questions in Nonfiction

Asking Questions in Nonfiction works the same way as fiction. You will ask yourself before, during, and after questions. You still have 4 different type of questions you can ask: In the Book--Right There, In the Book--Think and Search, In My Head--On My Own, In My Head--Author and Me. You also need to ask yourself question for understanding just like in the fiction stories.

You and your partner can pick any nonfiction story. You will ask yourself before, during, and after questions as you read. Use post-its and stick them in the book where you asked the question. Turn in the book to the teacher with you name on a post-it on the cover.

For your final project you and your partner will select any nonfiction story. You will need to write 4 questions about the text. The questions need to be one example of each of the 4 question types. You can get the paper to record them on from the teacher.
